FABshop Magazine Details Productivity Gains from SmartPAC PRO

A new article in FABshop Magazine explores the productivity and efficiency increases that the SmartPAC PRO press controller creates on the pressroom floor.

"The way to run more efficiently to achieve more productivity from your stamping press is to automate as much as possible," Jim Finnerty, Wintriss product manager, says in the article.

FABshop Magazine notes that SmartPAC PRO simplifies the automation process by centralizing all of a stamping press's control requirements in one location.

It also lists some of the components of our newest press controller, such as:

• WPC 2000 control-reliable clutch/brake control
• WaveFormPAC tonnage monitor
• DiProPAC die protection system
• ProCamPAC programmable limit switch

Other components include the AutoSetPAC load monitor, RamPAC shutheight and counterbalance control, and ProPAC in-die measurement and process monitor.

The article goes on to explain how the Wonderware software option allows the SmartPAC PRO to consolidate the interfaces for auxiliary equipment, decreasing the number of screens that operators must manage.

The magazine also details the available communication options, including compatibility with our ShopFloorConnect production reporting and OEE tracking software.

"One of the goals with the SmartPAC PRO was to make it IIoT-compatible," Jim says, "communicating with the outside world to tell everybody what's going on with the stamping press and also communicating with all the other intelligent devices on the machine. SmartPAC PRO provides real-time production data."

The article notes how an operator can share the setup from one SmartPAC PRO to the other SmartPAC PRO press controllers on the network.

The dual-core processor is another topic in the article. The SmartPAC PRO has increased from 16 programmable limit switches to 32 and expanded the number of die protection sensor inputs from 32 to 64. The press automation controller also can store an unlimited number of tool setups.

The article ends with a description of the customizable dashboards that allow each operator to easily store and retrieve the information he or she needs most.
